Rules
1. Name your characters realistically.
I. Do not use two-leg items in your character's names.
II. Do not use the names of fauna, flora, or locations that the cats would not know (the exception being cats from mythology, lions, tigers, etc.).
III. Do not use the same prefix of another cat in the same clan unless you have their permission. IV. Do not use the same warrior name as another cat on the site.
V. Druids must be named after a God or other mythological entity.
Click here for a list of appropriate prefixes.
2. Do not God-mode, especially with your powers.
I. The Admins have created a point system to prevent this from happening. Be mindful of it.
II. You must RP within your character's limitations. Do not use skills your character has not learned yet unless given explicit permission by an Admin.
3. Create genetically realistic cats.
I. Access this guide for an explanation of power genetics.
II. Access this guide for an explanation of fur colour genetics.
III. If you are still unsure of the genetics of your character, please contact Admin Jay for help.
4. Respect site staff, but also respect other site members, and potential future members.
I. We do not allow talk of real-world politics here.
II. That includes negative views on certain individuals or minorities. We have no tolerance for hate-speech or hostility of any kind. This is a safe roleplay environment for all peoples.
5. Site lore and plots dictate the story. You must rp as part of the community.
I. This rule is basically to prevent people from making up their own lore and expecting others to follow. The site staff are the only ones allowed to do so.
II. When submitting a character the password is Violet Axiom.
III. This also means you are not allowed to alter the plot of the site, or ignore it. All characters are affected by the plot, just like in the books. Yours are not an exception.
6. Do not harass your Leaders or Admins.
I. This site is micro-managed to prevent cheating, godmoding, and general unfairness.
II. Everything from pregnancy, to kithood, to apprenticeship is given specific time duration and requirements to reach. This information will be readily made available to you.
III. That means you should never harass your leader or admins to rank you up, especially if you haven't reached the requirements.
7. You must ask all affected parties before making a decision in-character that will affect others.
I. This goes beyond godmoding your character.
II. This is especially true if you are breaking in-rp laws, or starting fights. You MUST get the permission of your leader's user FIRST.
III. This rule is in place both so other rpers aren't caught off-guard AND to prevent interference with the plot, or upcoming events.
8. Please only use third-person, paragraph style RP.
I. If you are posting the set-up or setting of an rp, you may use Second-person paragraph style. You must get permission first to do so.
9. Be mindful of turn-order.
I. IF there is a turn order determined before the start of an RP, do not post out of your turn.
II. You may ask if you can add something quickly, but please listen if the other person(s) says no. This is especially true during events where it is important for all users to participate.
III. If there are a lot of people rping at once, please ping the user your character is talking to in order to keep track of the order.
10. Do not submit kits randomly. Limit the number of random apprentices.
I. It's not realistic to have young cats without parents or caretakers in this universe.
II. Do not submit a kit who does not have parents already on the site. If you would like a kit, ask another user to help you submit parents and/or siblings or wait until a litter is born and kits are up for adoption.
11. Be careful with dark subject matter. RP it realistically for the clans, not for real life.
I. This includes things like abuse, mental illness, disorders, disabilities, and drug use.
II. You must ask the admins before creating a character like this. You may not RP them before the admins approve.
III. The admins and mods work tirelessly to make sure this is a safe place for all people, so we will never completely bar someone from writing as a way of coping or venting.
IV. However, several members of the staff have experienced and deal with these things DAILY. We are critical and strict on how we'd like these things to be handled to avoid our own triggers, and possible triggers for future and returning members.
V. Our word is final. Ultimately, if we view the subject matter as too hard-hitting, too graphic, or too unrealistic for our site, you must alter or remove the offending information. We have zero tolerance for refusal to do so and it may result in your character being removed from the site.
FAQ
1. I used to RP here. What happened to the old site?
A lot of things at once. Mostly, Wix, our old site platform, was difficult for the staff to navigate and at times would crash or delete things randomly, and many features were blocked unless you paid a fee to use use them. Our admins did not have time to deal with that constantly, so site maintenance failed. We decided to move the entire site to a trusted platform with a simpler, faster interface. So far we have not had any problems, no crashes, and no random deletions.
2. What happened to the old allegiance system? Why can't I write a description for my character or have a picture for reference?
One of the problems we had on Wix was too many floating images causing a lot of lag. While we love having TONS of characters to enrich our site, we're wary of the same thing happening on Weebly. We have decided, instead, to mimic the allegiance style of the books. HOWEVER! That does not mean you can not provide a picture or larger description! If you check the Resources page, you will find a template for use on Google Docs, Tumblr, or Deviantart. If you wish, you may fill that out with as many pictures or descriptions as you want, and the page or document will be linked via the name of your character in the allegiance list!
3. I dont like using Chatango/I cant access the Chat Boxes/The site is down but I wanna RP still/I want to RP somewhere more private.
Dont worry! The chat boxes on site are for convenience. We have a Discord server that you can join to chat and RP. You can also RP on Tumblr, or DA, however, we ask you send links of these RPs to at least one staff member so they can make sure no rules were broken.
4. How can I make my character more important/vital to the plot?
The staff are working constantly on providing new High Rank opportunities, so be on the look-out for those. Protagonists and Antagonists are usually determined before the start of a major plot. Staff always gets first-pick at roles because they will be able to drive the plot toward the outcome, however, there will usually be roles open for members to grab. Be patient and participate in major Plot Events to help progress the site toward a new set of Protagonists and Antagonists.
5. You're using one of my photographs on your site!
All images on our site are taken from pixabay.com which is a royalty-free photo sharing site. You can contact the admins to remove your image, but you may want to contact Pixabay as well, as someone uploaded your image for free use.
